My bag is three quarters packed, I'm frantically writing list upon list to ensure I don't forget a few essentials things (namely umbrella, coat, ipad and new lipgloss) and I'm printing off my plane ticket where I'll be winging my way to MELBOURNE tonight for one of my favourite times of the year- The ProBlogger Event!
Two days full of social media, frantic note taking and catching up with those we normally only get to interact with over the interwebz- I'm just a tad bit excited and can't wait to bring everything that I'll learn back home with my to share with my students. (I may just be most excited about rooming with my cosmic twin Danimezza. Just maybe.)
A couple of little tips I have for those heading to this conference for the first time, feel free to take on board and ignore whatever you wish!
♥ It may seem a little bit intimidating to see everyone talking about what they're going to wear, and to be honest it is a little bit like a fashion though. But really? Stick to your style. Stick to whatever you feel the most comfortable in, and don't pretend to be someone you're not. Not into the neon trend? Don't feel like you have to turn up in bright yellow heels or chunky neon necklaces! Those who know me will know that I have an obsession with patterned tights and boots, so guess what I'll be wearing? Uh huh.
♥ Seeing everyone in the one room can be slightly overwhelming, and it's hard to approach people to say hi. This is me to a tee. I can be really shy in large groups, but I found if I pushed myself to interact and join in conversations it was incredibly rewarding and I've made some treasured friends.
♥ On that note, find the bloggers that you admire and let them know you appreciate their work. You don't have to have huge D&M's with them, but it's nice to touch base and put faces to names. I have a few bloggers I would love to meet as I've admired what they do for a long time now (in a non stalkery way!). Amongst other wonderful bloggers I'm hoping to say hi to Chantelle from Fat Mum Slim and Andrea from Fox in Flats- two ladies who create some amazing stuff.
♥ Join in on the social events after. Another way to strengthen fledgling friendships and an excuse for a wine (or three).
♥ Take notes, notes, and more notes. Sign up for the free virtual pass and download the powerpoints and videos. Chances are so much will be going on that you won't be able to take everything in, so you'll want to revise and review everything later on.
♥ Be organised. Print your ticket, the map of where you're going (if you're not sure) and set your alarm so you have enough time in the morning to get ready without rushing like a crazy thing. You want time to double check things like making sure you have your powercord packed, and that you have no lipstick on your teeth!
♥ Have fun! Be fabulous. Engage, interact and make the most of every opportunity. There will be wonderful people at this event. If you spot me, come up and say hi! I'm friendly, I promise :P And if you're not sure it's me, most likely I'll hanging with my cosmic twin Danimezza, and everyone knows who that fabulous lady is. Cheers!

Have fun, Rhi! WIsh I were there.
