Prettiness.

I'm on a stealth mission. I've been moving pretty things ever so slowly into our house in the hopes that Deon won't notice. Deon is not a 'pretty' person. He's a bit of a manly man, although he does have a lovely sensitive side which no-one is allowed to tell him that I said here, because he would kill me :P That sensitive side, however, does not extend to love the prettiness like I do.

I've never really been one for the prettiness either... until now. Having hit my thirties, I now have a new appreciation for things like fresh flowers in beautiful blush shades, gorgeous linen in harmonious neutral shades with a bit of sparkle thrown in, and birds. Yep, birds. What is it with those little creatures? They're prettiness personified!

I know what the latest prettiness obsession is all about though. It's about creating a haven- a place where every corner lifts my heart and makes me smile. It's about wanting a sense of calm to wash over you the moment you step into your space.

And honestly, Pinterest has a lot to answer for. It's like all the prettiness in the world congregated into one space and how can you not be influenced by it? Acres of camellias and Home Beautiful kitchens and floral teacups and hanging sequined scarves and jeweled doorknobs.... which means Deon has to put up with a lot more prettiness sneaking into this house. Sorry hun!

Are you into the pretty too? If you're on Pinterest too, I'd love to follow you, so leave your link in the comments below!

  2. So true! I too, now appreciate the value of filling my home with things I love and admire. I often cringe when I look back at pictures of my first home and see all the mismatched, tacky ornaments and bright colours that for some reason I liked back then- oh how things change! Pinterest- such a wonderful time waster, but oh so inspiring! I enjoy following your pins. I'm
