Cars, Traffic Rugs and Playtime.

Over the past couple of months the imagination of my Little Lion has exploded in vivid technicolour. He's learning how to tell stories and make up scenarios with his toys, and currently the matchbox cars from Disney's Cars are flavour of the month.

This is absolutely perfect, as each day we bring out his road rug from his room and lay it out on the lounge floor. We spend the morning racing the cars around the streets, around the roundabouts and lining up in the carpark. They even manage to fit in a game of soccer on the soccer field!

Each car has it's own name and personality, and apparently each one owns a 'house' on the rug as well. Lucky Mater who scored the mansion! The cars take turns in visiting one another for a 'cup of tea and toast with honey'.

I'd been looking for a while for a rug for his room and I wanted to make sure I got one that was good quality and last him for quite a few years. After searching and searching... bingo! I found this gorgeous Interactive Play Rug from Urban Baby. Carter has it in blue, but it's also available in green. I loved all the different textures of the rug, and how the streets didn't have any pile so it was easier for the cars to 'drive' around. There's four different designs, including Traffic (the one we have), Dollhouse, Farm and Playways. If you have a little girly girl, you have to check out Dollhouse. It's just adorable!

Each night we make sure all eleven cars are counted, put away then Carter will choose one to take to bed with him. Finn McMissile has been the favourite lately, but I'm sure it won't be long before Lightning McQueen is the chosen one again. This traffic rug has been worth it's weight in gold, and I'm pretty grateful to mum for buying it for him for his birthday last year! I'm sure it's going to get plenty of use in the future!
