Road Tripping.

Yesterday was big.

Yesterday Carter, my mum and I went road tripping across Victoria and ended up at my relatives house in a gorgeous coastal town just past Geelong. As I'm sitting here, I'm overlooking the rolling waves of the ocean and watching the streetlights glimmer in the distance.

It's bitterly cold, the type that seeps into your bones but I'm feeling calm. I'm tired though, bloody tired as driving eight hours will do to you, but all the planets must have aligned for me as my munchkin was a dream on the whole trip. Not one grizzle. I'm not counting my chickens though, as we still have the whole way to drive back yet!

Today was Carter's first Ferry ride as we braved the drizzly cold and headed off to Sorrento for the day. We'd rugged up as well as we could in beanies, gloves, jackets and legwarmers (well, me in the legwarmers, not Carter!)  He pressed his little nose up against the window and watched the ferry cut through the waves, and then we took a trip up to the deck for a (very!) quick look around.

After docking, we briskly walked into the town center of Sorrento and spent the rest of the day pottering around the gorgeous homewares stores, trying on boots and snacking on icecream. Yep, I couldn't resist the Oreo icecream calling out to me even in this frigid temperature! To escape the cold we ducked inside a cafe for lunch- hello salt and pepper calamari! Add a strawberry and pear cider and I was one happy little clam. Carter got stuck into his fish and chips and even took a nibble of my calamari, which I was pretty proud of. He's come such a long way!

The day was huge for my Little Lion, and after the ferry trip back he finally succumbed to sleep and dozed off in the car. I don't think it will be a late night for me either- I think once The Voice is over I'll crash for sure. Now, if only he'd let me have a sleep him... maybe I should send him into mums room in the morning!
