Having my feet back on Victorian soil feels a little... strange.
I crammed so much in each day and full immersed myself in everything North Queensland had to offer, and now that I'm back home and doing mundane things such as the washing and picking up groceries it's almost as if the past week didn't actually happen. I'm well aware of the fact that I'm suffering from a post-holiday hangover (and full on trying to detox after all the wicked goodness that was consumed) but damn, I'm missing that sunshine right now. Bit of a shock to the system going from 26 and sunny to a bone chilling 14 degrees!
Do you know what makes it all so, so sweet though? That first hug with my Little Lion where I showered his face with kisses and couldn't let him go. That he's almost permanently attached to my leg, wanting stories, cuddles, kisses, songs... that he sits next to me with his head resting against my arm, occasionally looking up at me with his big brown eyes and cheeky smile.
While he slept I curled up on the couch and caught up on some trashy TV with a big mug of tea and an Anzac biscuit. Slipping back into a routine and feeling the coziness of our home envelop me. The last week has been incredibly special and I can't thank Tourism Queensland and Nuffnang enough, but I tell you what, having my own pillow and bed back again was bliss. There's nothing like it. (Although, I do miss room service. Who else is going to bring me crispy wedges with sweet chili and sour cream?)
I'm working on blog posts now about our sojourn up north, but I've had a bit of a setback where I've misplaced the download cord from one of my cameras. I've ordered a replacement, so once that gets here I'll be able to edit and post my photos. I'm hoping that's early next week. Stay tuned!
And, while I'm waiting for that cord to arrive I'll concentrate on getting myself grounded. And back in a blogging rhythm. It's been a little too sporadic lately!
