Doin' it for the Kids- QLD Flood Appeal

For the last few days, I've been unable to articulate just how devastated I've been watching the rolling telecast of the Queensland floods. So many stories of heartbreak and loss. All I wanted to do was to help out somehow. Then, I found a project that I loved.

I just wanted to highlight a wonderful cause that Mez over at Days Like These has started. On her blog she's written:

So yesterday I felt really hopeless about the Queensland Floods. I had donated money but I really wanted to do something more to help.But let's face it, we all know I tend to panic in a crisis and couple that with my complete lack of upper body strength, me volunteering to help up there probably wouldn't assist anyone.

So, being a teacher and a mad nut for buying Stationery I thought I could do an appeal for Back to School goods for all the kids affected up in QLD. The best part of starting a new School year is having all those fresh new pencils, rubbers and textas. But I seriously doubt many affected parents are thinking about dropping by Officeworks or Smiggle right now!

School is proven to be one of the most stable environments in a child's life and what these kids need right now is some stability and assurance. We can help them get right back on track by giving them the supplies they need. As a teacher I know how much it means to the little ones to have all their important supplies.
