Point and Shoot #12

Sunday 29th August- 4:45pm- Carter's Sandpit

It was an afternoon of domestic bliss. The sun was out, there was a slight breeze, and the little lion was happily playing in his sandpit while we moved the grass and weeded the garden.

It might seem boring and mundane, but I live for these afternoons, where our family unit can finally relax and spend some time together after our hectic weeks. After being sick for so long, they're even more meaningful for me.

Budding Picasso.

I'm not sure what it was about yesterday, maybe it was the fact that the sun finally decided to make a small appearance, but I'd had enough of the doom and gloom around our house and just needed to get out! I chucked on my new cropped Running Bare trackies, loaded up my ipod and popped the little lion in his pram.

We set off on our walk into town, and every time I passed a tree blooming with blossoms I took a deep breath. For the first time in a while, I felt relaxed.

My mission whilst in town was to buy Carter some crayons. Mum had sent some fantastic textas that were shaped to fit little hands, but I was too worried that he'd start drawing all over himself or the rug with them. To me pleasant surprise I found the exact same thing, but in Crayon form in KMart. If anyone is interested, they're called Tadoodles Crayon Buddies by Crayola.

We walked back home and after lunch, opened them up and began to play. The best part is that they're washable, so if he accidentally got them on the tiles it would wash off with ease.

As you may know already, I'm an art teacher. It was such a special moment for the two of us to draw together, it was something I'd been looking forward to for a long time. I loved seeing his creations and the way his little face would scrunch up in concentration when he was guiding the crayons across the paper.

Aren't they cute?

Carter drew well into the afternoon, and had to show his daddy when he arrived home after work. I'm so glad that he loves to play with them, and I'm sure they'll get a lot of use in the future!

Madeit- Ocean

It's almost the end of Winter, and I'm dreaming of sunshine. We have accommodation booked in Summer right on the beach and I can't wait, so while I'm trying to be patient I'll use the ocean as inspiration for this week's Madeit finds....

Polly Dolly Challenge- Fashion Show

Danimezza

I'm quickly posting this while the little lion is snacking on a Cruskit in his highchair, so it will be short! This week Dani has asked us:

What would we wear to a fashion show?

As soon as I saw the silk dress, I fell in love with it. To spice it up, I added some Jimmy Choo gladiator heels and the red tote and lipstick. Definitely need the iphone to twitter afterwards!

Not There Yet...

Oh, Lordy. Still only operating at about 60% here. And the clincher? Not only am I still battling waves of nausea, but I've picked up a cold too. Urgh.

I really apologise for the negative turn these posts have taken. I really don't want to be in this sort of headspace, but I'm hoping by next week, and after a visit to the docs tomorrow for my little lion (who is also still sickly) things will take a turn for the better and I'll have lots of happy events to report on. Lots of sunshine my way please!!!!

Stressed.

I’m trying to feel upbeat, bright and positive.

I’m trying really, really hard to keep it all together and look forward to every single day.

I’m just struggling a bit. The little lion has once again fallen sick, this time with gastro. And, yours truly caught it and couldn’t even get off the couch on the weekend.

We’re getting better now, but he’s still having trouble with his ears and he’s become a super fussy eater.

I feel so stressed. There are so many things that I'm worried about right now. I’m so scared to put him back into daycare as I just know he’ll catch something else, but right now I have no choice.

I feel really lost right now. I feel like I'm falling apart.

Point and Shoot #11

Saturday 21st August- 3.30pm- Backyard

I haven't written much about my fur babies since Carter arrived. I thought I'd reintroduce my big teddy bear, Nikita. She's an Alaskan Malamute with a penchant for howling along with sirens which can be quite endearing during the day, but not so much fun at 4am. She's a big bundle of energy and Carter loves to laugh at her while she prances around the backyard.

She's just a big, fluffy bundle of joy.

Friend? Ah, no.

I think technology is amazing. I can't believe that I'm in an era where I can talk to my mum face to face through skype every night even though she's halfway across the country. I can google a phone number, find out tomorrows weather and book a flight without having to talk to a single person. Through blogging I've made some good friends, and one amazing one who I've never even met in person. In fact, I'd call her one of my best friends.

But, technology can be a strange thing. Following celebrities on twitter gives you quite an insight into their personality. See, I'm a bit of a fan of Katy Perry. I love her kookiness and am quite partial to her music. And, maybe I slightly love the fact that people say I look a bit like her when I have black hair. So, I'm following her.

I was tweeting some friends last Monday when Katy tweeted that she'd just been to the Tim Burton exhibition. Without thinking, I quickly tweeted back saying I also thought it was amazing, and which bit did she like the most?

A few minutes later I realised that I had become one of those sad people who tweet celebrities thinking that they'll get a reply, as if they were a friend. Lame. The shame.

I still think technology is amazing, but sometimes I miss those days where the closest insight you would get from a celebrity is reading an interview by them in TV Hits magazine. That way, there's no chance of internet shame!

Polly Dolly Challenge- Friday Night Drinks

Danimezza

I happened to love creating this week's Polly Dolly. The challenge that the lovely Danielle from Danimezza set was:

What would you wear to Friday night drinks?

I have to say, I miss Friday night drinks. Pre-Carter, my friends and I would count down to the last teaching session on a Friday, then celebrate the end of the working week with a cocktail or two in town. Nowadays, it's takeaway and a movie or wii with a couple of friends.

Anyway, I loved picking out what I would wear. So, here it is..

I know Dani asked us what colour looked best on us, but I have to cheat a bit. I know techically white isn't a colour, but I still feel it looks best. That, grey or black. I just love this beaded white tank with the dark skinny Ksubi jeans. Oh, and the shoes... I just love the feathered detail on these Robert Cavalli heels.

To top it off, I'd add the cuff, ring and a splash of SJP NYC. Of course, we definitely need the lipgloss and smokey eyes for a Friday night.

This has given me incentive to try and organise something for tomorrow night!
