Ninety Day Bug.

No change here. We're all still coughing, spluttering and generally feeling miserable. My little lion has had some very rough nights, and I think it's taken a fair bit out of him. He slept for 3 hours straight for his nap yesterday, and today he's been asleep for almost four. This is unheard of for him. It's unnerving me a bit.

Deon announced yesterday that apparently this particular illness that's going around and hit everyone for six has been named the Ninety Day Bug by doctors. Because... it takes ninety days to get over. NINETY DAYS?? Feck. Only 2 1/2 months to go until we're all healthy again.

I think another trip to the doctors is in order if there's no improvement in my little munchkin soon.

Polly Dolly Challenge- Animal Inspired

Danimezza

It's Thursday and time for another Polly Dolly Challenge... and this one asks us to bring out our inner animal! Here's my animal inspired outfit..

I have to say, I'm only a fan of animal print when it's done subtly. Small pieces to accentuate a whole outfit. I am loving the leopard vest by American Eagle Outfitters and I even tried to purchase it online but couldn't find it. I've teamed it with dark skinny jeans, a black tank and boots. To brighten it up I've added the funky bangles and a pair of oversized tortoiseshell sunnies.

Time to keep searching for that vest!

A Lovely Surprise.

Last Friday I picked up the mail, and discovered a parcel addressed to me that I wasn't expecting. I love parcels. I'll even order things over the net just so I get a parcel in the mail.

Anyway, I opened it and discovered a gorgeous little gift that the lovely Danielle from Danimezza had sent me. The reason? Simply because the little hummingbird on the necklace reminded her of me.

Thank you my cosmic twin. You are such a beautiful spirit xxoo

A Plague Upon this House.

Bleh. We're a miserable bunch here at the moment. It's been a shocking Winter for getting sick, it seems like every second person has cold/flu/tonsillitis. We're all sickies in this house- Deon has a cold, I feel like I'm getting tonsillitis again, and poor Carter has a cold, a nasty cough and conjunctivitis in both eyes.

We're off to the doctor soon, me for a medical certificate and also to make sure Carter isn't getting croup again. Sigh. I'm very over Winter. I need some warm sunshine.

Point and Shoot #8

Saturday 24th July- 2:15pm- Lounge

Carter turned one on Saturday. Last week on a whim, I decided to order some helium balloons, and three large foil animal balloons as decorations.

Wrapped in a black garbage back, I bought them inside. Carter stared, and his eyes widened with astonishment as I released them all- bursts of colour filling the room instantly. He grabbed the purple string which was tied to the purple monkey, and held on tightly.

The purple monkey and Carter have become best friends over the last couple of days. Even as I type, he's holding on and bobbing it up and down. Sorry orange lion and blue elephant, I guess you just don't hold the same appeal!

My Precious Carter- 1 Year Old.

My precious Carter,

Today, you are one year old.

I can't believe how quickly the time has flown. I can't believe that this time last year, I held you for the first time and kissed your adorable, squishy little face. Now, you're walking, smiling, laughing and filling our days with sunshine.

This afternoon, we had a little birthday party for you. Nan, Poppy and Aunty Summer came, while you got lots of phone calls from your other family members who couldn't make it! Grandma and Grandad got to watch you on Skype, and helped us sing Happy Birthday to you.

Daddy helped you unwrap your presents- a Tonka Truck and some toys for your new sandpit.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Carter....
Happy Birthday to you!

You appeared to be quite overwhelmed when we bought the cake out and started singing. You weren't sure what was going on, and why you were getting so much attention!

The cake mummy spent all morning creating. A lion to suit your jungle theme, and because you're a Leo (and our little lion cub!)

Showing Grandma and Grandad the cake on Skype (while once again you're preoccupied with the balloons)...

Cutting the cake...

You were definitely a bit wary about tasting your cake for the first time!

But, after the first bite, you couldn't get enough!

Sitting at the head of the table with your purple monkey balloon. You absolutely loved all the balloons we bought for you, and had one in your hands at all times.

Enjoying your new sandpit! You gave us the biggest smile we had seen all day, and shrieked with delight the first time you grabbed a handful of sand.

Carter, you are such an amazing little boy, and bring us so much happiness.

Happy Birthday sweetheart. We love you past the stars xxoo

Another Milestone.

Happy Birthday my beautiful little boy.

You are our precious little lion. We're so proud of you, and love you past the stars.

You are amazing xxoo

I'm going to do a more detailed post tomorrow when I've downloaded all the pics!

Polly Dolly Challenge- The Races

Danimezza

Polly Dolly Challenge for this week- What would you wear to the races?

Once again, I've gone for the nude tones with soft pinks in the dress, and a bit of bling to sparkle it up on the shoes and clutch. I'm starting to love hats, and I'm looking forward to Spring so I can wear one like this to our local races. The champagne is a given!

Trashy TV Thursday.

I had a list of jobs I had to get done yesterday. Boring things, like washing and mopping and filing and whatnot. However, that all went out the window, and I'm actually really glad it did. I'm normally a neat freak who doesn't feel relaxed until everything is clean and put away nicely in all their right places, but while chatting to mum on Skype and mentioning how I was feeling a bit stressed and run down, she said I just needed a day to relax and chill out.

So, I did.

My colleague/long lost twin sister dropped over in the morning and we spent the whole day watching all the trashy TV shows I had lined up on MyStar. Bliss. I love TV. Millionaire Matchmaker, 16 and Pregnant, Soberhouse, Real Housewives of New York... the only one we didn't get to watch was Australia's Next Top Model as it didn't tape! Dammit! I have it set to tape the repeat on Sunday though, so we'll just have to wait until then.

We chatted, played with Carter, ate Krispy Kremes and I also managed to fit a nail appointment in in the afternoon.

Sometimes, we just need to chill out and have days like these. They're fabulous.
