Beauty in Words.

I was idly clicking through a few websites to give my brain a bit of a break from HTML, when I saw a list entitled The Strangest Colour Names. Being an art teacher I was immediately intrigued, then slightly embarrassed when I realised that I could only recognise two of the words!

• Aeneous
• Aubergine
• Cerulean
• Columbine
• Cyaneous
• Ferruginous
• Lovat
• Nankeen
• Or
• Sinopia
• Smaragdine
• Solferino
• Xanthou

I thought the words were just beautiful, and I'm going to incorporate them into an art lesson with my Year 9/10 kids next week. I'd love for them to create a monotone artwork using one of the words as inspiration. Will have to show some pics of the finished pieces next week!
