Polyvore Challenge

'The idea behind the challenge is this: "If I asked you to slip on a pair of jeans, a simple top, a pair of flat shoes, and any accessories you liked, what would you come up with? No doubt you'd come out looking vastly different to the next person, but how?" - Challenge by Fleur Delice... Create your own outfit using Polyvore and share it on your blog for all to see and make sure to leave a comment to share your outfit!'

Casual Winter Look
Casual Winter Look by vanillakat21 featuring Gucci sunglasses

I've been playing around with this particular site for over a year now, so when I saw a blog challenge that revolved around it I jumped at the chance to take part. It makes me feel like I can window shop without spending any money!

I do realise the challenge asked for a casual top, but being that it's Winter and freezing at the moment, I thought I'd substitute it with my current obsession- the Tan Leather Jacket. I want one soooo much!

I also have an obsession with boots. I adore them. They're definitely my favourite thing about Winter, and I always find them so comfy and flattering.

As for the oversize sunnies and pink lipgloss.. well, they're just staples of mine. Gotta have 'em.

This, obviously, is the sort of thing I'll be wearing once Chickpea has arrived and I'm somewhat back to my normal size! Right now my outfits tend to consist of trackies, stretchy black maternity tops and thick socks.. comfy, but not the most flattering things!

Blaby Blitz.

Well, things have gotten hectic around here in the last week!

It's all systems go on trying to complete the house by the time Deon's 30th Birthday arrives... in less than 2 weeks. Argh! Deon is operating at high speed, a million miles an hour, and every day there's deliveries arriving at our house or workmen doing who knows what everywhere.

It's wonderful though, and I've been waiting for this for about 5 years now. To have a complete front yard so we can actually entertain will be lovely. Not to mention the fact that pelmets will be done inside, doors replaced, walls patched and painted.. bliss!

I just hope for Deon's sake that it will all be done for his birthday. He's cutting it fine, but he loves working under pressure. He thrives on it. He's a funny boy when it comes to things like that ;)

37 Weeks!

Our little bub is now 37 weeks... and full term. How amazing, and what a relief all at the same time.

The little one has hiccups at least twice a day now, and has a habit of becoming quite active late in the evening, just as I'm trying to relax. Sleep? Nope. Constant aches and pains in all my joints, but you know what? I don't care. I'm treasuring the fact that these last three weeks will be the last time that Chickpea and I will have this special bond between us.. just the two of us.

However, I also can't wait for the moment Deon will have his first hugs and kisses as a dad.. I'm sure I'll be teary and emotional when I see it!

It's Tuesday and I Can't Wait...

It's Tuesday and I can't wait.. for my hair appointment on Thursday. It's been almost 2 months, and I'm tired of the awful regrowth and split ends. Time to go back to a lovely deep chocolate all over for Winter I think.

Had a lovely afternoon just relaxing at mum's house, watching TV and chattering about bits and pieces. I've missed her HEAPS.

Blissful Saturday.

Was in a bit of a domestic mood today. After finally getting out of bed this morning at 11am (come on.. it was raining and freezing and was lovely just to stay snuggled under the doona!) I decided to do some baking.

Deon was in a silly, fun mood and thought he'd help.. so we cranked the favourites playlist on the ipod docking station, and danced around the kitchen while mixing, chopping and pouring.
I'm sure Chickpea enjoyed it as much as we did!

We created a chocolate fudge cake with choccie frosting, garnished with grated chocolate, then made chunky double choc cookies. Notice a theme there? ;)

We're about to head out for tea now, and I'm very excited. I've missed doing this.

What a lovely Saturday. I hope everyone else has had a wonderful one too.

35 Weeks.

It really is such a bizarre feeling to think that in approximately 5 weeks, Deon and I will be holding little Chickpea.

I have dropped HEAPS in 2 weeks. The little munchkin is sitting right on my pelvis, which is causing many sleepless nights and lots of aches and pains. Lots of people are saying that there's a good chance I could go early.. in a way I hope so, as apart from the fact I'd love to meet Chickpea, it will be nice to have some relief from the back pain, and fit into normal clothes again! I can't wait to be able to pull out my little vests, hoodies, tunics, etc! I love Winter fashion, and am counting down the days until I can partake in more than just window shopping.

Below is a sneak peek of the quilt mum is doing for the cot...

Isn't it gorgeous!? I just love the colour scheme, and the fact that mum has transferred my paintings onto fabric makes it even more special. I can't wait until it's finished and in the nursery.

Sorry about the lack of posts too.. I've just finished my first week of maternity leave and I was feeling a little out of sorts. I love pottering at home, but I really miss seeing everyone. Was pretty worried about Lan too, but it looks like she's on the mend which is a huge relief. However, I'm a little pissed off about something. Someone who I thought was a pretty good friend had a birthday dinner on Sat night, and we didn't get an invite. Normally, we would have. Now, I know that I'm pregnant and on maternity leave, but I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth!

But anyway.. I'm browsing some TV Series box sets on Amazon and Ebay for something to watch in the middle of the night when Chickpea is keeping me up. Any suggestions?

Future Dreams.

On this cool, rainy day I decided to chuck my trackies and bed socks on, snuggle up on the couch, and put on Vicky Christina Barcelona which I had rented this morning.

It was lovely escapism.. and for almost 2 hours I was transported to a countryside rich in art, wine and music.

I began thinking about travel, and where exactly I'd love to go. Deon and I have always said that Rome is on the top of our list, and of course Paris is up there too. Barcelona, New York, London... there are so many I want to tick off my list. However, since Chickpea is arriving soon these plans will need to be shelved for a few years, but one day I'd love for us to do an exchange somewhere for a year as a family. I want my kids to be able to experience the world and the many different cultures it has to offer. Plus, it's a dream of mine to be able to take them to Disneyland.. I believe you're never too old for that!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where you go first ?

More Stripey Socks.

Today I received a gorgeous surprise in the mail.

I'd had a fairly average few days. Not the best. Dee's mother passed away, which was incredibly sad, and my little sister had been admitted to hospital due to bleeding and complications from having her tonsils removed over a week ago. The poor girl had no-one there to look after her, and it broke my heart to hear her in tears on the phone. I felt so helpless, I wanted to jump on a plane then and there to go and take care of her. Luckily, mum managed to get a flight at 6am the next morning, which eased the stress I was feeling.

So, when I discovered a parcel waiting for me at the Post Office (which I LOVE.. there's nothing better than getting that little slip asking you to pick something up!) I became very excited, and discovered a beautiful little present Danielle had made for Chickpea.

Isn't it gorgeous? A little cross stitch monkey to match our jungle theme with.. wait for it... red and white stripey socks! It compliments the paintings I did for Chickpea perfectly. I love it. Tomorrow I'm going to frame it, then place it in one of the bookshelf cubes.

Thank you so much Danielle. It's perfect xxoo
