Diva Arrives!

When going into Centro yesterday to buy a new pair of runners, I was thrilled to see that Diva had finally opened. I adore Diva, and can spend ages looking through all their gorgeous designs. I picked up these little trinkets:

A vintage inspired necklace-

Some feathered earrings (I love the colour in these!)

And, some silver hoop earrings, because I believe you can never have to many of those!

The Sandbar.. All Finished.

It was hard to motivate ourselves to go out Friday night after a very long week at work, and poor Deon working 14 days straight, but I'm glad we talked ourselves into it. It was the opening night of the Sandbar Beer Garden, and I really wanted to be able to see what Deon had worked so hard to finish. So, we decided to hit Pizza Cafe first for some tea, then meet Carlie, Keezy and Dave at the Sandbar after.

When we arrived at the Sandbar, there was a HUGE line up. At least a 45 minute wait. How crazy is that!? We wandered past the line for a bit, then saw with relief that the bouncer was one of Deon's mates, and he let us in instantly (amidst all the yelling and jeering from the people who were lined up, but hey, you'd take up the same offer, would you not?)

It was pretty much all in vein though, as it was so packed inside that I couldn't even see what the Beer Garden looked like. I think we'll have to go there for lunch soon, where it's a lot quieter. But, a good night was had, lots of laughing with a kebab to finish. Perfect way to end the week.

Eliminating the Wobbles

This week has been fairly flat out, as I've been hitting the gym with Niccy. I love it, but it's a bit of an adjustment working all day, then hitting the gym, then finally getting home by 7. I love it though, Nic, Stacey and I all motivate each other and have a great time. We especially love Body Jam, being able to dance our little hearts out and still get a workout at the same time.

I'm aiming to eliminate a few of the wobbles that have appeared over the Winter (damn that comfort food and chocolate!) so I can fit back into my Summer gear. Also, I want to be fit and healthy for when Deon and I venture to New Zealand, as he wants to get into a few of the trails around the mountains.. and I don't want to be exhausted 10 minutes into it!!

Delicious Cobb Dips.

Our department was on morning tea duty this morning, so I decided to so something different from the sausage rolls, party pies and saveloys that EVERYONE brings. I bought two Cobb loaves from bakers delight, and made two dips to go in each one; a french onion and spring vegetable with spinach and cheese in both. I cut up mountains of carrot and celery sticks to place around each one too.

They were so popular! In 20 minutes, both had disappeared completely. I may have to do three next time!

If anyone is interested in making the dip, all you need is 500ml Sour Cream, half a bunch of shredded spinach, french onion or spring vegetable soup mix and some grated cheese. Yummo!

Ponderings.

Not sure why, but I'm feeling a little flat today. I think I'm just worried about Deon. The poor guy is SO stressed because of work, and has been working overtime and on weekends to try and get projects finished on time. I'm hoping we're still able to go to Lan's on the 5th.. but at this stage it's still up in the air.

I had a nice weekend though.. Dee and I caught up and went to the cinema to see 'Taken' (very cool!) and I caught up on all my housework. Even the car is spotless! We also rented 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' which is an awesome movie, and made me almost laugh 'til I cried.

The gang and I are planning a big night this Friday.. and I think Deon needs it to unwind! Dinner at the new Thai restaurant, and then hit the Sandbar for their opening of the new beer garden. Maybe even a bit of O'Malley's later :)

It Just Snuck Up On Me!

Oh ICK!

I was in the ELC this morning (the meeting spot of us teaching wenches, we tend to have some 'us time' before we head off to our respective forms) and I was saying to Niccy how happy I was that it was Thursday, and how I was going to curl up on the couch tonight and watch SYTYCD.

She looked at me in a funny way, then said, "Um, no, you're going to be here at school painting nails with me for the Girl's Secrets night."
Urgh. I had totally forgotten that I had to be back at school between 6:30 and 9, and the weather outside is AWFUL. Cold, raining, windy... nooo! I just want to stay home! I don't know how much longer I can handle Winter. It's just so damn depressing. And, I can't get rid of this bloody cold!

Sunshine.. wherefore art thou...

However, this made me smile, and made my day. Keezy and I think he's the best animal EVER. He's gorgeous! Yoda, the four-eared cat from Chicago.

SYTYCD Faves

Faves from last week:

Twitch and Carrington- Contemporary

Will and Jessica- Lyrical Jazz

Joshua and Katie- Contemporary

One of Those Special Songs..

Keezy, Carlie and I are all obsessed with MGMT at the moment, in particular the 'Electric Feel' song. I ADORE it. I've listened to it about 10 times every day.. and I even have it as my ringtone. We wanted to see them play in Melbourne in December, but it's on a Thursday night, Grr! Will be too hard to get down and back again before work on Friday morning. Hopefully they'll have an Adelaide date soon...

Niccy's Artwork

I'm up to the fourth coat on 3 of Niccy's works. I'm going to let these dry, and begin the other three on the weekend. All they need now is a bit of wax medium for texture, and some damar varnish for shine. Very happy with these little ones.

Memento from Melbourne

Thought I's post some pics of the gorgeous shoes I bought at Kahlon in Melbourne. I haven't had a chance to wear them yet as it's been too cold (and I've been sticking to boots) but Spring is approaching, and I'm sure they'll be slipped on in the near future... I just have to be fairly careful with them, as I don't want to mark or damage the suede!

Sunday Musings.

Deon and I have planned another Melbourne trip to visit Lan on the weekend of the 5th of September. I'd like to fit in a lot of the things I didn't get to last time, such as visiting the International Gallery of Victoria, ACMI and seeing a movie in Gold Class at Crown Casino. And, the aquarium for Deon, haha. He loves it.

Still feeling a bit flat this weekend. I was going to take tomorrow and off and go to the doctor, but I think I've picked up enough to head back to work (unfortunately!). See how I am in the morning anyway.

Finished The Pact this weekend too. I couldn't put it down. I need another one now!

Winter Readings.

I think it's time I bought a new book. I'm slowly collecting all the Jodie Picoult novels, and they are fabulous. I started with My Sister's Keeper (which is being turned into a movie starring Cameron Diaz- not sure how I feel about that!) and am re-reading Perfect Match at the moment. I think I'll head into Angus and Robertson tonight and pick up The Pact or Nineteen Minutes. Bliss... I LOVE new books!

Little Handmade Elephant

Here he his.. the gorgeous Indian elephant that Deon bought for me in Melbourne. I've placed him on the cabinet underneath the mirror, and bought some bamboo and grasses to place in the vase next to him. I love how everything is beginning to take form and resemble the pictures I've had in my mind the whole year so far.

And, I probably shouldn't have called the elephant little.. he measures about half a meter from his toes to the tip of his trunk!

Now, to get the bedroom happening too...

A Narky Weekend...

Still not good. Feeling quite frustrated and cranky, irritated by the fact it's the weekend, yet I have no energy to DO anything constructive. I'm surrounded by millions of tissues, vicks in all shape and form and a massive tub of sorbolene to try and soothe my poor red nose. Plus, I've made myself sicker by taking cold and flu medication that didn't agree with me.. BAD move.

The only positive about this weekend is that the Olympics have started, and I have an excuse to sloth on the couch and watch it all day. But still.. I would be enjoying it so much for if I was feeling better... *sniff*

Feeling Bleh.

Oh URK. Karma has taken a huuuuge swipe at me. After boasting all last week about how I haven't caught a cold or had the flu all year, guess what I woke up with today. Yup. A head cold. And I feel gross. Poor Deon has copped it too.

Lots of water and rest on the weekend. Please let it be over soon!! I promise I will never brag about not getting sick again!!

SYTYCD

My two favourite performances from last night:

and

They both gave me goosebumps. Just amazing. Deon and I have both picked Joshua as our favourite so far.

Lust at First Sight..

Ooh... if only I had oodles of money.. I found the most gorgeous dress today while browsing one of my favourite websites- Madaboochoo (Melbourne fashion).
It's by the Citi label and retails for a cool $357. I'll just have to keep dreaming about it!

So, so pretty and elegant!!

Friday on My Mind.

I'm in a bit of an antsy mood at the moment. Not quite sure why, but I think it has something to do with the supremely windy weather we have going on. Seriously, it's whipped up a gale out there, and the sky has a lovely rust tinged hue to it. Which I'm sure will apply to my poor black car too.

I'm in the mood to paint and create this weekend. Lots of plans for the house too. The poor thing hasn't been cleaned for 2 weeks, and there are dust bunnies everywhere! Ew!! It makes me want to sterilize the whole place! I did want to do something to the yard, but with weather like this... um, no. Next weekend.

Deon bought me a gorgeous hand made nickel elephant when we were in Melbourne, which I ADORE. I'll have to post a pic of him soon. I've sat him underneath the leather mirror, and placed a vase with bamboo and grassy type foliage next to him, which also ties in our honeymoon photo. I love how our place is suddenly becoming alive with all the green splashed around.

I'm looking at doing a summer bedroom makeover now. The colours at the moment are really warm and inviting, but too heavy for the warmer months. I'm looking for a white doona cover with turquoise, aqua and lime cushions. If I start searching now, I'm sure I'll find it all by September!
