Wicked was indeed... Wicked.
Well, I'm now back in the real world after a WHIRLWIND four days. The kids were fantastic in Melbourne, and it was wonderful for me to be able to visit ACMI, the National and International Gallery, and of course, see Wicked!
Even though the kids were great, it was lovely to be able to wave them goodbye at DFO and do my own thing! Shane and Deon didn't get to Melbourne until midnight, and being that I had only had 5 hours sleep the previous night, I was exhausted. I did spark up the next day though, as I LOVE shopping, and managed to pick up some great bargains on Bridge Road. Shoes...tops...coats.. my wardrobe is now bursting with shiny new things :)

It was a shame Collingwood lost, but hey, even though I lost money on them, I still came out in front after finding money on the ground at the train station. Karma, anyone?

T'was sad to once again leave my little sis in Melbourne and return home, but no doubt I'll be back again before she knows it ;)

Positive Turn of Events
A plan is being made at the moment.
Next Thursday and Friday, I'm off to Melbourne with 36 year 9 students for the culture trip. The best bit will be seeing the broadway hit Wicked, and the even better bit is that we have an extra ticket from a student pulling out, so Lanna gets to come too! *happy dance*
I'm trying to wrangle it so that I'm allowed to stay in Melbourne, rather than having to head back on the bus. If all goes to plan, Shane is going to pick Deon up and they will both drive down on the Friday and meet me at Lan's house in Melbourne that night. Then, who knows for the rest of the weekend.. shopping.. AFL matches...bring it on!
On another note, last night Deon and I went to see The Dark Knight and it was amazing. So dark and film noir- exactly the way I like my movies! Even though it ran fo 2 1/2 hours I didn't fidget or become bored once... was very impressed.

I Caved.
OK. I did a bad thing after work. Once again I had a pretty crumby day (argh! I hope it picks up soon!) and I had to meet Ritz in town for a coffee so I wandered into Sportsgirl, and tried on a few of the pieces I had admired on their website. And yes, they fit. And made me feel good. So, in a week moment, I bought 3 things.
This gorgeous floaty top with the pretty lace. I don't own anything in this colour, but when I tried it on it really gave me a lift.

I picked this top because the rouching works quite well with my body shape, and stops me looking so 'square'. Plus, it has such a soft, lovely print.

And last but not least, a bag similar to this one.

OK, don't judge me, I needed to do it ;)
Lime and Acid
After feeling a little down from work yesterday, I immediately chucked one one of my favourite DVDs and painted solidly for two hours. I'm really starting to love how my new set for Niccy is turning out, and I hope she feels the same too. I'm working on 3 at a time, as they're quite time consuming, and need fairly precise work.

The first one has 3 coats, the second has 2, and the last one has 1. As Niccy wants some orange as well, I'm thinking of incorporating tiny bright orange threads into a couple of the green sections. As I still have 3 more to complete in this set, I might make a few of the sections in the new ones orange, to tie in the sets. Sorry, that's probably not very clear to anyone reading this, but I can picture it in my head!

A Night at The Dark Knight.

Deon and I, as well as a group of friends, bought tickets to the Premier of The Dark Knight, which will screen Thursday night. Even before the sad passing of Heath Ledger, I was looking forward to seeing it, as his role had been so hyped up and critically acclaimed.
It's going to be an eerie feeling watching Heath on the screen playing the role which is rumored to have been the cause of his sleepless nights, thus the reason for the many prescriptions of sleeping tablets and anti-anxiety pills (but really, who knows), but from watching the trailers, I have a feeling he will be brilliant.

And it All Begins Again..

Feeling the Sunday Blues a bit tonight. T'was expected though, considering the holidays are now at an end, and Term 3 begins tomorrow. I think I'm a bit miffed too, as I still don't know my class lists, the timetable hasn't been finalised, and I wasted half a day at school battling photocopiers that didn't want to print double sided for me. Hrmph.
The shining lights so far are:
- Year 10's won't be back for 2 weeks (they're on work experience) so 5 extra sessions off.
- Athletics day in week 3
- Culture trip, ie 2 days in Melbourne and seeing Wicked on the Thursday night
- Not having all the places filled yet for culture trip, so fingers crossed Lan can come and see it
- Seeing all my work mates every day
- It's getting closer to New Zealand...

Peace, Love & Shoes
I.... LOVE the spring fashion that's arrived in Sportgirl.
I think I've always been a bit of a hippy at heart. I tend to gravitate to anything that's floaty, knitted, floral or tasseled. And, it's all back in fashion again. Bless.
Here's a few screen shots of my favourite pieces from the current line.

May have invest in a couple of these ;)

Chocolate Knit
Thought I'd quickly post two of the things I bought while I was in Melbourne.. I ADORE both of them. The first one I discovered in a cute little store called Imagination while wandering down Chapel St.

It's so cuddly and warm, and the best thing is that I love that it's different, and no-one here in Mildura will have the same!
And, my FAVOURITE bargain... a pair of soft chocolate boots I found for $40.. AND they have a low heel AND have buckles.. just what I was looking for! I can't stop wearing them at the moment!

Lovely Lamps #2

Lovely Lamps
After visiting Lan in her gorgeous little 3 story unit, and watching TV by lamps each night, she's talked me into joining her lamp family. So, yesterday was spent searching for the perfect lamp to place on the coffee table next to the lounge, so I could read and work by it. I thought this task was going to be easy. How wrong I was.
I became quite disheartened when I realised that every lamp I adored was $299 or more. My favourite one, a beautiful chunky carved wooden base with a huge cream cylindrical top (found at at Harvey Norman) was $350... Nooo!!!
Anyway, my last stop was Target where I actually had some luck, and found a cute lamp that matched our decor. And on sale! I especially love the soft latte suede top. I was going to take a photo, but my camera battery died, so I've just got a pic off the website for now, I'll have to post one from home tomorrow. Here we go!

Tea and Scones
On a cold Winter's day, three girls decided to take a journey to The Dandenongs to partake in the quest to find the best tea and scones.
They were found.
Although we had to wait almost 1 1/2 hours just for a table at Miss Marple's tea room, it was well worth the wait. I have never seen scones as big as the ones that were served. Absolutely beautiful.
After gorging ourselves silly on all things sweet, we ventured out to... eek, the name on is the tip of my tongue.. Skypoint? Skyhigh? Lan, you'll have to remind me! Anyway, the view of Melbourne was amazing, and the gardens so pretty. I think mum would have loved it.

Melbourne Stuff
Having a fabulous time in Melbourne so far with my little sister. I loved finally being able to see where she worked, instead of having to imagine it, and even 'help' her on one of her design briefs.
I loved strolling down chapel street, admiring all the clothes in stores such as Wayne Cooper and Ed Hardy, wishing I had a few more $$$ in my bank account so could take some of it home. Loved going out with Lan and her friends last night to Nevermind Bar, squashing up on the couches and ACTUALLY being asked for ID. Ha. Specially loved that bit.

We spent today down at a cafe by the boathouse.. it was an unusually sunny day for Melbourne in winter. I think we're heading to the Dandenongs tomorrow.. should be a fantastic time as lots of tea and scones will be involved...

First Week of Freedom
I apologise for the lack of updates lately, I've been taking some time out to just chill after what was an extremely long and frustrating term. I let loose on the Friday night, somehow losing buttons on my boots between the Sandbar and O'Malleys, and spent all day Saturday recovering. It was a fabulous night though, but it will be a while before I have another one like it!
I'm a bit grr about the boots though. I just love them, and wear them quite a bit, but those damn buttons just don't want to stay attached. I even tried to superglue them back on, but no! I'll have to take them back to the store AGAIN.

Sunday was a whirlwind of house cleaning and washing, in the hope that I would be able to simply relax for the rest of the week. On Monday I decided to buy Deon a new blender, as he uses the old one about 3 times a day, and it was almost dead. So, I bought this lovely shiny new glass and stainless steel one, that I am actually happy to leave out on the bench.

I've been a little aggravated over the paintings that I've started for Niccy. I'm not really liking them myself, the design isn't really 'doing it' for me. If I don't like them, then I don't feel right doing them for others. The colours are not what I imagined, and the design is just.. hmm. I have started a new set, a retro abstract one in lime (her colour of choice) and I think I'll get her in to choose which ones she prefers, then go from there.
On a good note, I bought this gorgeous little biscuit coloured top from Dotti.

I physically had to drag myself out of there yesterday, I just ADORE their whole range at the moment. Gorgeous knits, warms vests and floaty chiffon, layer upon layer in biscuit, tangerine and creams. Beautiful!!
Only 2 more days until I'm in Melbourne with Lan. She has so much planned, and I'm really looking forward to it! Lots of photos will be taken!
